LaTasha Starr collaborates with the University of Petra in Surabaya on a short-term project titled “Incorporating AI into the Mechanical and General Engineering Curriculum” through the Fulbright Specialist Program from August 4 to 15, 2025.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics with a minor in biology from Tennessee State University. She earned her first master’s degree in human-centered design engineering—with a concentration in user interface design and astrobiology—from the College of Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle. She later completed a second master’s in industrial, manufacturing, and systems engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and earned an MBA from the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.

LaTasha teaches engineering at Dallas College and Texas A&M University, where she actively supports student internship collaborations. A certified process improvement analyst, she focuses her research and teaching on bridging the gap between higher education and industry applications through Lean Six Sigma methodology.

In 2024, she is one of ten Texas A&M faculty members to receive the SEC Travel Grant Award. In 2025, she is named a Luce STEM Fellow and participates in the HERS Leadership Institute.
