Aurelia Tan is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) co-teaching English at SMKN 9 Padang, West Sumatra.

She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in history and completed the urban teaching track, fulfilling 400 hours of full-time student teaching in an International Baccalaureate history classroom.

Raised in a close-knit Indonesian-American community in Elmhurst, Queens, Aurelia is committed to youth mentorship and culturally responsive education. This is her first visit to Indonesia, and she looks forward to deepening her connection to her heritage while fostering meaningful cultural exchange through shared experiences in and beyond the classroom.
