Live from Kendari! ETAs Join a Radio Talk Show

In December, ETAs Jasmine Coley and Emiko Wu were special guests on the radio show “Sore Ceria ‘Besik’ Bincang Asik,” broadcast live on 90.8 FM from Kendari. The topic was “The Experience of American English Teachers in Kendari.” They discussed their culture shocks, favorite local Kendari cuisines, diverse teaching approaches, and more. They were initially approached about this opportunity by Ibu Dian, an Indonesian Fulbright alumnus, who also joined them as a special guest on the radio show to share insights from her time as a Fulbrighter in America.

This radio show was significant to Jasmine and Emiko because they were able to answer their most commonly asked questions from locals in Kendari. In this way, everyone in Kendari could understand their purpose in the city and get to know them a little better. Jasmine and Emiko are scheduled to return to the radio show in 2026 to share their final thoughts on Kendari and their time teaching, and they have been asked to bring one of their former students with them. Stay tuned…

Jasmine Coley is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
