Priscilla Magrath

As a Fulbright US Scholar, Priscilla Magrath is teaching at the Public Health Department of Jenderal Soedirman University in Purwokerto. She shares her expertise in qualitative research, behavioral theory, and the social determinants of health.

Dr. Magrath is a senior lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona. Her teaching and research focus on global health, health policy and systems, and maternal and child health. She also provides training and mentoring in qualitative research methods for students and faculty.

With more than 25 years of experience as an engaged medical anthropologist, she has worked on programs including the Title V Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment for Arizona with the Arizona Department of Health Services; IUWASH PLUS in Indonesia for USAID; the Provincial Health Project in Indonesia for the World Bank; and the Livelihoods Recovery through Agriculture Program for CARE Lesotho-South Africa.

Dr. Magrath earned her doctoral degree in medical anthropology from the University of Arizona, her master’s degree in agricultural economics from the School of Development Studies at the University of East Anglia, and her bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from the University of Cambridge, UK.
