Iftar with the Teachers Badminton Club

On March 9th, ETA Victoria Djou and the Teachers Badminton Club gathered in the lobby of SMAN 5 to break the fast together. The iftar marked a warm continuation of relationships built over months of shared badminton practices at GOR Srikandi, where games often blended physical activity with spontaneous English conversation. During practices, teachers regularly used badminton terms and encouraged one another in English so that Miss Victoria could understand.

Sharing iftar provided a relaxed space for those same interactions to continue off the court. Conversations flowed easily as teachers and Victoria talked about Ramadan traditions, daily routines, and lighthearted moments from practice. In this informal setting, English became a tool for connection rather than a classroom subject. Victoria’s involvement as a native speaker supported listening and speaking in an authentic way, while her consistent presence showed a genuine commitment to the school community.

Through sport, shared meals, and time spent together, the group strengthened personal connections and created an environment where language learning and cultural exchange happened naturally.

Victoria Djou is currently teaching at SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung, Lampung.
