Holly Emerson is a 2025 Fulbright Specialist collaborating with the Center for Standardization & Services on Plantation, Metallic Minerals and Maritime Industries Indonesia in Makassar, South Sulawesi, from May 29 to June 14, 2026. Her project focuses on carbon accounting, verification, and certification training.

Holly has nearly two decades of experience driving innovation that contributes to a cleaner economy. Throughout her career, she has developed methodologies for assessing the carbon impact of products and solutions, established science-based targets, guided long-term materiality and sustainability strategies, and led investments in renewable energy.

She is currently an Executive in Residence at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. Prior to joining Duke, Holly held sustainability leadership roles at Ingersoll Rand and Trane Technologies, Johnson Controls, and Dialight. She has also served on the National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Sustainably Integrated Buildings and Sites Industry Advisory Board, where she was the inaugural chair.

Holly holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a LEED™ Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
