Eliana Steele is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) co-teaching English at SMKN 3 Palangkaraya, Kalimantan Tengah.
Eliana is a recent graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She also completed a senior thesis in linguistics, where she used archival materials to help analyse and document the Indigenous Chochenyo language of Northern California. She was Secretary-General of Columbia Educational Simulations (CESIMS), a non-profit organization serving public high school students from the New York City Area. During the summer of 2025, she participated in the Advanced Indonesian Immersion Program at Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga, Central Java, as a Fulbright-Hays Scholar.
She is thrilled to return to Indonesia to share her passion for language education. She is looking forward to experiencing Indonesia’s rich culture, beautiful landscape, and linguistic diversity.
