Jason Yan is a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) co-teaching English at SMK Krian 2 Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur.
Jason recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in public health, specializing in environmental health sciences and engineering. He has a strong passion for advancing renewable energy solutions and addressing the intersection of sustainability and public health.
His international experiences, from studying sustainable development across Europe to implementing health interventions in Southeast Asia, have shaped his global perspective on environmental challenges. Jason’s commitment to bridging cultural divides and his multicultural experiences have profoundly influenced his decision to continue pursuing a Fulbright.
As a second-year ETA, Jason plans to continue further immersing himself in his host community and building on the relationships he has with both the faculty and students at his school. He is excited to get back and learn even more Bahasa Indonesia in order to facilitate even more meaningful conversations.
