Peni Candra Rini is a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University.

She is a composer, singer, lecturer at the Department of Karawitan, and a doctoral candidate in Music Composition at Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Surakarta.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in musical arts and her master’s in music art creation and is a  doctoral candidate in composition; all are from ISI Surakarta.

Her music composition “Maduswara” is being played by the Kronos quartet in the program “Fifty For The Future.”
