Ending the year with a WORDS Story

Exam season has finally ended, and students are now getting ready to display their creativity with storybook writing. On December 18, 2023, ETA Owais Mahmood hosted a Storybook writing workshop for the upcoming WORDS competition in January at SMAN 4 Jambi. This workshop gave participants the foundation for writing and crafting a story on this year’s WORDS topic, Dreams. Owais shared examples of stories from past participants while presenting one as an example to help students understand the expectations for the competition.

As part of the workshop, students learned about characters, settings, problems, solutions/resolutions, and the story map (rising action, climax, and falling action) that can be used to create the story. Because students were exhausted from exams, they were given only time to work on their story maps and stories.

Owais and his co-teachers will be available throughout the break to assist students. They are excited to help students prepare for the competition.

Owais Mahmood is currently teaching at SMAN 4 Jambi, Jambi.
