During the 10th-grade students’ testing period, ETA Tineer Ahmed visited different 11th and 12th-grade classes to interact with students she does not teach. In class XI-2 with Ibu Mahrita, the students performed skits related to fairy tales. The 11th grade students spent weeks preparing their original script, props, and characters. All group members had to memorize their lines in English and present their stories to their classmates in the school courtyard.
One group was inspired by “The Three Little Pigs” but wrote their story about three rabbits that each have their own house built with different materials to protect themselves from a big bad wolf. Some students incorporated singing and dancing into their stories as well. With other classes, Tineer prepared Kahoot! Games related to English grammar include present continuous tense, prepositions, and subject pronouns. The students used their phones to log into the Kahoot! website and chose their answers from the multiple-choice questions. The teachers reviewed the reasoning behind each answer after each round. Tineer gave the winner of each game a fun prize, and the students were more motivated to choose answers quickly and accurately after each round. SMAN 3 Banjarbaru has a diverse population of talented students!
