On Sunday, September 8, ETA Maria Osman joined over 200 students, teachers, professors, and professionals to celebrate the Abdurrab Foundation’s 30th Milad. The Abdurrab Foundation funds several educational institutions, including Abdurrab University, an Islamic school, and the vocational school (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan, SMK), where Maria serves as an ETA.
The event kicked off with a 10K run through the city, starting from the foundation’s complex. Although the idea of a 10K run seemed a bit daunting at first, Maria found that the students’ enthusiasm kept her moving with ease. After the run, everyone gathered for breakfast, where Maria had the chance to meet teachers, professors, and students from the broader Abdurrab community. This event provided an opportunity for Maria to engage in meaningful conversations about education and culture, strengthening ties between the diverse participants.
Later, a raffle for prizes took place. While Maria didn’t win, she loved cheering on the winners and sharing in the excitement around her. The shared experience of the run, the raffle, and the conversations afterward helped to foster deeper connections between participants and create a sense of community.
Maria Osman is currently teaching at SMK Abdurrab Pekanbaru, Riau.
