Brady Allen
Award Year: 2024

Brady, a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA), is co-teaching English at SMKN 1 Kutalimbaru, North Sumatra.

Brady recently graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in environmental science. He has a strong passion for protecting our planet’s biodiversity and supporting communities at the forefront of climate change. His interest in tropical communities is rooted in his time studying abroad in Costa Rica and Belize.

Beyond academics, Brady is an avid traveler who enjoys exploring “off-the-beaten-path” destinations. He actively engages with local communities, learning about their traditions and customs during his travels. Brady’s upbringing in a diverse, multicultural community has profoundly influenced his decision to pursue a Fulbright ETA position in Indonesia.

During his Fulbright journey, Brady plans to “totally” immerse himself in Indonesian culture and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be Indonesian. In addition to teaching, Brady aims to utilize outdoor education and athletics to build strong relationships with his host community.
