Brandon Kirk Williams arrived in Indonesia in August to start his doctoral research “Partners in Development: The International Labor Organization and Postcolonial Indonesia and India, 1950-1980.”
The project is a comparative analysis that examines the path of development in Indonesia and India as they cooperated with the ILO after their respective moments of independence. Brandon is doing an archival research at the National Archive of Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) in Jakarta. He is conducting archival research using historical documents, newspapers, and publications from the period 1950-1980.
His project is supported by the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award (DDRA). Currently, Brandon is registered as a Ph.D student in History at University of California, Berkeley. During his project in Indonesia, he will be supported by Universitas Indonesia.
