Christina Stoll, a few teachers, and Class 10.3 from SMAN 2 Palangkaraya got together to bukber (buka puasa bersama). The entire class of around 50 students, along with their homeroom teacher and their English teachers, Christina Stoll and Ibu Retno, gathered at a riverside restaurant to break their Ramadan fast together. Both Christian and Muslim students and teachers came together to enjoy a meal and share stories.

For Christina, this was a wonderful opportunity to see her students outside of school and learn more about their habits, personal style, and current online obsessions. By coming together, regardless of religion, Muslim students were able to share the joys of the holy month with their friends, fostering understanding and camaraderie within their already tight-knit class.
Of course, because Miss Christina was there, the students were also encouraged to speak English, while inviting their teachers to brush up on their English as well. Both teachers and students enjoyed dates and grilled fish together, and the group wrapped up the evening by filming a few TikToks at the riverside. Although the students were frustrated by their teachers’ lack of dancing skills, it was a fun way to reverse the roles between student and teacher. Overall, it was a successful evening of food, laughter, and community.
Christina Stoll is currently teaching at SMAN 2 Palangkaraya, Kalimantan Tengah.
