The Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, a flagship journal of the International Literacy Association, just published an article written by US Fulbright Scholar Dr Jayne Lammers and Dr Puji Astuti based on their research during Dr Lammers’ 2019 Fulbright research at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES).

In the article, Dr Lammers and Dr Puji argue for the need for literacy educators and researchers to attend to the voices and perspectives from the Global South – to pay attention to and learn from how youth in places like Central Java utilize technology for their learning and literacy development.

Dr Lammers remarked: “It was an important first argument for us to make from our collective work, and is just the beginning of what we hope to accomplish from our collaboration. Please do share the article with others who may be interested in what our commentary argues for.”
