Dakota Pekerti
Award Year: 2022

Dakota Pekerti is an independent researcher whose previous work experience and education focused on optimizing supply chains and renewable energy dispatch for climate change mitigation. In both industries, Dakota was deeply involved in developing optimization algorithms designed to reduce landfill waste, encourage the generation and usage of renewable energy, and align with US environmental initiatives and regulations.

As a Fulbright US Student Researcher affiliated with the PPM School of Management in Jakarta, Dakota’s research aims to optimize macro supply chain logistics in terms of cost, delivery time, and GHG emissions. Dakota travels across Indonesia to study the dynamics of various transportation hubs and interview 3rd party logistics (3PL) professionals to build a dataset that can accurately model the intricacies of Indonesia’s supply chain network. Once complete, this model will be used to analyze various policy and climate scenarios to discover pathways to better economic and environmental outcomes for Indonesia.

Dakota holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and environmental studies minor from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
