Danis Sugiyanto is a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Richmond, Virginia,  from January until May 2018.

After getting his bachelor’s degree in Karawitan Art at Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia and magister of humaniora at Universitas Gadjah Mada, he worked as a lecturer at Institut Seni Indonesia in Surakarta.

In addition to being a teacher, artist, and composer of gamelan, Danis is a musician and a keroncong music composer who has been and will continue developing Indonesian music in the United States.
