Danis Sugiyanto will be a Scholar in Residence at University of Richmond, Virginia for five months from January until May 2018.

After getting his bachelor’s degree in Karawitan Art at Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia and Magister of Humaniora at Gadjah Mada University, he worked as a lecturer at Institut Seni Indonesia in Surakarta.

In addition as a teacher, artist, and composer of gamelan, Danis is also a musician and a keroncong music composer who has been and will develop Indonesian music in the United States.
