At the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Dr Dewi Seswita Zilda researches in biology with a project entitled “Heterologous Production of Proteases from the Thermophilic Bacterium Brevibacillus Thermo rubber PLII Originate from an Indonesian Hot Spring.” She hopes to obtain recombinant microbe as the result of her work and learn new techniques and methods used in cloning and gene expression for enzyme discovery by doing her research in the United States.
She is a researcher at Balai Besar Riset Pengolahan Produk dan Bioteknologi Kelautan dan Perikanan (BBRP2BKP), Jakarta.
She completed her PhD in biotechnology from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Her bachelor’s degree in fisheries science was from Universitas Bung Hatta, Padang, and her master’s in food science was from Institut Pertanian Bogor.
Upon completing the program, she intends to expand her understanding and knowledge of Indonesian enzyme-producing microbial incorporated into a research network.
