Dr. Francis ‘Pancho’ Chang is a Fulbright Specialist at the Center for Patient Safety at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya from April 12 – May 12, 2024. While there, Dr. Chang develops and helps conduct 1) a forum on high-reliability organizations and hospital patient safety, 2) webinars on Global Trigger Tools and Leadership in Patient Safety, and 3) public health graduate student seminars.
Dr. Chang serves on the board of Channing House, a non-profit life plan community in Palo Alto, California, on the finance committee of The Health Trust, a hospital conversion foundation in San Jose, and on the quality and patient experience committee of El Camino Health, a Silicon Valley healthcare system. He has been a stakeholder reviewer for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, a study section member for the National Institutes of Health, and a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards reviewer. Dr. Chang has served as a Kellogg National fellow and a Pew Health Policy fellow and is a retired member of the California and Massachusetts Bars.
