Dr. I Made Wahyu Wijaya is an associate professor and researcher in environmental engineering at Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar, Bali. He earned a bachelor’s and a doctoral degree in environmental engineering from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya.

His research at Illinois Institute of Technology focuses on implementing circular economy principles in the tourism accommodation sector. He aims to examine environmental management strategies adapted to the Indonesian context while building international collaborations to promote knowledge exchange within ASEAN. His project examines how circular practices can benefit various accommodations, ranging from large hotels to small- and medium-sized enterprises.

He hopes his research findings can support more sustainable, resource‑efficient tourism development across the region.
