Dr. Iwan Halim Sahputra is a lecturer in industrial engineering at Universitas Kristen Petra, Surabaya. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), a master’s degree in plastics product design and management from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, and a doctoral degree in engineering design and materials from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway.

As a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Sahputra conducts research in engineering science, combining artificial intelligence and physics to improve the prediction and performance of complex fluid flow systems. The research has potential applications in infrastructure, energy, and other engineering systems that rely on the efficient movement of liquids and gases. He intends to apply the knowledge gained to establish a Physics-Based Machine Learning research group in Indonesia and integrate the findings into graduate education and research.
