Dr. Maria Lichtmann

Dr. Lichtmann will collaborate with The Center for Religious and Cross-cultural Studies (CRCS) at the Graduate School, Gadjah Mada University, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from May 25 – July 5, 2016. She will hold a seminar (class) of three credit hours on “Religion, Women, and Literature” for eight weeks (or 14 meetings) for graduate students. She plans to assist in developing the syllabus and topics/themes to be covered for that semester.

An award-winning scholar, educator and author Dr. Lichtmann received her master’s and PhD degrees in Religious Studies from Yale University in 1982. She has spoken on teaching and spirituality to teachers from kindergarten through college and to parents and religious education teachers. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Indonesia in 2010-2011 and in Bosnia Herzegovina in 2004 – 2005. She worked as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Appalachian State University from 2001-2010.
