Dr. Markus Heryanto Langsa is dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Papua in Manokwari. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Universitas Hasanuddin and a master’s and a PhD in chemistry from Curtin University, Australia.

As a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, Dr. Markus is conducting research in chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. His project explores the application of advanced US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) water quality models—such as WASP and QUALs—to predict the effects of infrastructure development on water quality resources in West Papua province. The research aims to support more sustainable infrastructure planning in the region.
