Dr. Muzakki Bashori is a lecturer in linguistics at Universitas Negeri Semarang.

His current research project at Cornell University on endangered languages and language preservation is entitled “Language Contestation in Indonesia: The Future of Javanese Language and the Effects of a Digital Game on its Preservation.” After his Fulbright Visiting Scholar program, he will write articles for publication in international journals and continue developing a game-based platform to preserve local languages in Indonesia, especially Javanese.

Dr. Muzakki earned his bachelor’s degree in English teaching from Universitas Negeri Semarang, a master’s in applied linguistics from the University of Groningen, Netherlands, and a PhD in applied linguistics at Radboud University, Netherlands.
