Dr. Pujo Semedi Hargo Yuwono

As a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Pujo Semedi Hargo Yuwono will teach geography, anthropology, and Asian studies to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) from August until December 2025.

During the program, he will begin work on advancing Southeast Asian studies at CU Boulder, including designing a framework for student exchanges between CU Boulder and Universitas Gadjah Mada and fostering research collaboration among faculty members. Additionally, he will collaborate with David Bachrach, a PhD candidate at CU Boulder, to finalize an article titled “The Political Economy of Mega Infrastructure in Indonesia, 1870s–2020s.” He also aims to establish an academic network at CU Boulder to explore this topic further. Upon completing the program, he plans to deepen his research on Indonesia’s challenges and failures of mega food estate initiatives.

Dr. Yuwono is a professor at the Department of Anthropology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology. He obtained his doctorate in anthropology from the University of Amsterdam. His research, articles, posters, and journals were published and presented in national and international forums, such as the Forum of Development Studies, the American Ethnologist journal, Duke University Press, Euroseas, and many more.
