Dr Rakhmat Hidayat is a senior lecturer at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

His research is on “Policy Recognition of American Indians in Wisconsin,” focusing on lessons to be learned for indigenous people in Indonesia. The Center for Southeast Asian Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison, is hosting him and has put him in touch with experts on Native American policy experts. He hopes to set up an Indigenous Peoples Research Center at UNJ upon his return.

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto, and Universitas Indonesia respectively. He completed a PhD in sociology of education at the University of Lyon, France.
