As a 2021-2022 Fulbright US scholar, Dr Samad Chakour is teaching at Politeknik Pariwisata Medan.
In addition to building cultural bridges between Indonesia and the US, through teaching Indonesian students about the US culture, language, business, and entrepreneurial mindset, Samad is working hard to inspire a young generation of entrepreneurs and hospitality-minded students to pursue both their advanced studies and entrepreneurial thinking and holding community outreach activities.
One of the main goals is to assist faculty and administrators in improving their teaching methods and developing ways to work with the industry to improve the preparation of their students for in-demand employment in hospitality in North Sumatra by developing relevant Industry Driven Curricula focused on crucial skills.
Dr. Samad Chakour holds a doctorate in international business, MBA in financial management, and a bachelor’s degree in economics. He has 18 years of teaching undergraduate courses in international business, human/labor relations, cultural awareness, introduction to global trade and logistics, and business ethics and sustainability, in addition to extensive experience working on different international projects in several countries, including 2016-17 Fulbright US scholar award in Morocco.
