Dr. Sri Koerniati
Award Year: 2025

Dr. Sri Koerniati is a researcher at Pusat Riset Rekayasa Genetika, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (Research Center for Genetic Engineering, National Research and Innovation Agency – BRIN) in Bogor. She earned a bachelor’s degree in plant breeding from Universitas Padjadjaran, a master’s degree in plant conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a PhD in plant science from the Australian National University.

As a Fulbright Visiting Scholar, Dr. Sri is conducting research in biotechnology at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. Her project focuses on developing drought-tolerant cassava using RNP-CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology, which enables precise modification of an organism’s DNA. The research involves delivering the gene-editing components directly into cassava cells to trigger targeted mutations. She aims to publish the findings and pursue patent registration as part of the research collaboration.
