Under the Fulbright Visiting Scholar program, Dr Sulaiman Mappiasse researches educational sociology at Graduate Theological Union. He hopes to develop Islamic education programs and curricula at his home institution that will emphasize multi-religious dimensions.

He is an assistant professor at Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Manado.

Dr Sulaiman holds a bachelor’s in Islamic theology and philosophy from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, a master’s from Flinders University in education, and a PhD in sociology from the University of Hawaii, which he earned with a Fulbright grant.
