
Dr. Wayne Jacobson is a Fulbright Specialist at Universitas Brawijaya in Malang, East Java.
His project focuses on strengthening the role of program outcomes, continuous improvement, learning outcomes assessment, curriculum development, and teaching strategies in higher vocational education. The visit includes a series of workshops, sharing sessions, coaching activities, and consultations designed to support the development of international-standard curriculum design and assessment methods.
Dr. Jacobson is the assessment director in the Office of the Provost at the University of Iowa. A first-generation college student, he began his academic journey at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a master’s degree in linguistics. He taught English as a Second Language in the US, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and later pursued further graduate study at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
He earned a PhD in adult education and joined the Center for Instructional Development and Research at the University of Washington, where he later served as center director. At the University of Iowa, he supports learning outcomes assessment, student experience surveys, the university’s framework for teaching assessment, and institutional accreditation. He also holds an adjunct faculty appointment in educational policy and leadership studies and teaches a graduate course on assessment in higher education.
