Who will the sea-going Bajau community become if they can no longer rely on the sea?
Former US Fulbrighter to Indonesia Dr. Kelli Swazey and filmmaker Matt Colaciello interviewed three generations of Bajau family in Wakatobi National Park in a documentary film “Our Land is the Sea” which was screened and discussed at Department of Anthropology, Universitas Indonesia (UI) on September 12, 2018. The discussants include Dr. Swazey, and Indonesian anthropologists Sundjaya from UI and a former Fulbrighter Prof. P.M. Laksono from Universitas Gadjah Mada , moderated by Dr. Tony Rudyansjah, Head of Anthropology Department UI.
This event, which was a collaboration between AMINEF and Department of Anthropology UI, attracted 100+ students, faculty member and other invited guests who have interest in diversity, religion and environmental issues. The occasion was also a good opportunity to make connections with the hope that they lead to future collaborations.
