Fitria Puspita Sari is studying for a PhD in atmospheric sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the area of advanced study in meso-meteorology. She focuses on applying machine learning to numerical models to generate impact-based forecasts related to thunderstorm-induced severe weather.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Sekolah Tinggi Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (STMKG) in South Tangerang, and a master’s from Wageningen University, Netherlands, both in meteorology.

Her home institution is STMKG, where she is a lecturer.
