Gunawan is pursuing a doctoral degree in economics at the University of Kansas. His interest in statistics and econometrics motivates him to conduct research on the topic of the “economics of happiness” for his intended doctoral study.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and his masters in economics/statistics from École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) Paris, France.

He is strongly committed to improving the quality of economics education at his university and to create highly qualified Indonesian graduates, who can be competitive on the national and international levels.

Gunawan is a lecturer at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.
