Hira, a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA), is co-teaching English at SMKN 5 Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

She graduated from the University of Chicago, where she studied public policy analysis, specializing in international policy. During her time there, she focused on research related to bilingual education. She also has a passion for mathematics and spent three years as an undergraduate teaching assistant for calculus at her university, serving as a board member for the Society of Women in Mathematics.

Hira spent one year as a research assistant with the Indian Health Service, studying indigenous groups in Indonesia and maritime Southeast Asia. Additionally, she has experience as a global events coordinator intern at The University of Chicago International House, where she gained experience planning cultural and internal diplomacy events.

In 2022, she received the Critical Language Scholarship to study Bahasa Indonesia at the Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). Hira has also volunteered as an English teacher and cultural ambassador with Ruang Belajar Aqil, an educational nonprofit in Malang. She is enthusiastic about returning to Indonesia as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, eager to cultivate new friendships and participate in a beautiful exchange of cultures.
