Hujuala Rika Ayu undertakes a doctorate in English at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Her interests include translation and literary translation, postcolonial studies, and feminism.

She is a lecturer and a researcher at Surabaya State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree from Wollongong University.
