Dr. Jui-Ching Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Music at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Wang, who has a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education from Arizona State University, is a recipient of the 2016 Fulbright Senior Scholar award. Under the grant, she conducts research entitled “The Development of Traditional Javanese Children’s Singing Games, Dolanan Anak, and its Various Roles in Three Periods: Pre-WWII, Post-WWII, and the 21st Century.”
From this project, Dr. Wang hopes to understand the changing educational functions of dolanan anak in the three periods of time. For ten months, she spends most of her time in Yogyakarta, where she is affiliated with Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Faculty of Cultural Sciences.
