Earlier this month, ETA Iyesha Belgrave had the opportunity to attend the Mid-Year Enrichment Conference in Jakarta. Along with 16 other ETAs and 17 co-teachers, she engaged in educational and constructive workshops to reflect on the grant thus far as well as consider ways to improve in the future.

On the first day of the conference, Iyesha led an ETA-only “Taking Care of Self” session along with fellow ETAs Emi Wu and Sydney Grafals. Together, they discussed the importance of self-care during the grant. To wrap up the session, ETAs used face masks, a self-care strategy they can also use later at their respective sites.

The last day of the conference consisted of a group trip to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, where ETAs and co-teachers had the opportunity to learn about Indonesia’s various cultures. Despite the rain, everyone had a great time. As the grant continues, ETAs and co-teachers will take their insights back to their schools for a second semester that will hopefully be even better than the first!
