Dr Noer Kasanah will research “Marine Natural Products for Antivibriosis.” She believes that research facilities in the United States (spectroscopy, bioassay, and genetic) will accelerate her research progress to discover new compounds to combat vibriosis (a bacterial illness from eating raw seafood). The result of this project will be valuable not only for international publication but also for application in aquaculture and human health.
She is a lecturer at the Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Gadjah Mada (UGM). She earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, and her master’s in biotechnology, both from UGM. She then went on to do a PhD in marine pharmacognosy at the University of Mississippi.
