For the week of February 2 to February 6, ETA Victoria Djou led a safari-themed lesson focused on giving directions. The highlight was an interactive final activity that encouraged creativity, collaboration, and real-world language use. Students were divided into groups and given a small squishy toy animal, which they had to hide somewhere on the school grounds. Using key vocabulary and imperative sentences, each group wrote step-by-step directions leading to their hidden animal. To model the task clearly, Victoria first stepped outside and demonstrated how to record directions while moving through a space.

Once the groups completed their directions, the second phase of the activity began. Each group exchanged their written directions with another group and attempted to follow them to locate the hidden animal. This engaging activity transformed language practice into an immersive experience, allowing students to actively use their English writing, reading, and listening skills. Rather than simply learning English, students applied their knowledge in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
Victoria Djou is currently teaching at SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung, Lampung.
