Sam Chen is currently teaching at SMK Negeri 7 in Semarang, Central Java. His motivation to pursue a teaching opportunity in Indonesia comes from his own love of learning, appreciation for sociocultural diversity, and belief in the importance of education.

Prior to joining the Fulbright ETA program, Sam attended Amherst College in Western Massachusetts, where he majored in Sociocultural Anthropology with a concentration in Pre-Medical Studies. Following his time in Indonesia, he hopes to enter graduate school for a career in global health. In his free time, Sam enjoys hiking, watching the New England Patriots win Super Bowl Championships, good dogs and air conditioning.
