After a longstanding career as an English teacher in Ambon, Sofia Rahanserang is pursuing teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) at Kent State University, supported by the Fulbright Master’s Degree Scholarship.

She plans to return to the SMAN 4 Ambon to work on the curriculum and teacher professional development for learners at different levels. She also aspires to take leadership roles in the education field in Maluku and advocate for policies that support teacher professional development.

Sofia earned her bachelor’s degree in English language education from Universitas Pattimura. Previously, she received the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching (DAI), formerly known as the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP), to further develop her professional expertise in English teaching at James Madison University.
