As a Fulbright Doctoral Degree Scholarship grantee, Vyan Tashwirul Afkar undertakes a PhD in transborder studies at Arizona State University – Tempe, with research interests on international relations.

He serves as a policy advisor to the Director General at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in Jakarta, and as executive secretary to the vice rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Universitas Indonesia. He earned both his bachelor’s degree in geography and master’s degree in international relations from Universitas Indonesia.
