In April, ETA Jasmine Coley taught her students about Earth Day in celebration of America250. Jasmine showed them different ways her schools in America celebrated Earth Day, such as by creating a school garden. Jasmine’s students talked about how they hoped Indonesia would celebrate Earth Day one day and how they could help make their environment healthier.

Currently, the school has a water bottle collection stand that is waiting to fill up to the top. In other related news, SMKN 3 Kendari’s English Club celebrated Earth Day while reminiscing about creating the mural for their vocational classes. Each vocational department represented one Earth, and they all reflected the vibrancy of their department in their designs. To them, Earth Day is about more than caring for the natural environment; it’s also about how you treat the community around you. Earth Day is about making the world a better, healthier place across all aspects of life.

Jasmine Coley is currently teaching at SMKN 3 Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara.
