Fathimah Handayani is the Forest Product Industry Performance Analyst of Directorate of Forest Processing and Marketing at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Jakarta. Previously, she was stationed in Balai Pemantauan Pemanfaatan Hutan Produksi (Monitoring of Production Forest Utilization Office) Area XV Makassar-South Sulawesi for 3 years where she began as a staff at Monitoring and Evaluation of Production Forest.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2006, and Master’s degree in Forest Science and Management, School of Environmental Science and Engineering from Southern Cross University, Lismore, New South Wales in 2015.

She participates in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in natural resources and environmental management AT University of California, Davis, because she considers the importance of the program as a lifetime opportunity to learn and share about the designated program field from across the world.

The activities designed and developed in the program enable her to gain professional enhancement, better knowledge and skills in related fields that prepare her for more contribution and leadership role in the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry. She would like to learn more about protecting natural resources particularly forest, sustainable natural resources management, environmental policy development and enforcement and incorporating climate change in regulation planning.

Upon the completion of the Humphrey program, she would like to continue working in forestry development in Indonesia through her institution. As a young researcher, she thinks that she is capable of creating and initiating research projects in order to provide scientific papers to support decision making process.
