Muhammad Iwan Wahyudi is a  Civics teacher at SMK Diponegoro Tumpang, Malang, East Java. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civics from Universitas Negeri Malang in 2002. He has been teaching Civics since 2009 in this school. Prior to teach at his home institution, he was a volunteer teacher at a local NGO in his village. He is active in the local community by providing tutorials for students in an orphanage in several school’s subjects in English, assisting in a library development, and being involved in a local NGO project for disabled persons. He considers himself as an activist focusing in the Education Enhancement. His motivation to apply for the ILEP is to learn how to make the courses more interesting and to increase his students’ enthusiasm to learn the subjects. He also hopes to enhance his knowledge in leadership, teaching methods, educational approach and lesson plan.

Iwan is placed at Arizona State University. Upon the completion of the program, he plans to share his experiences in the US with his fellow teachers and the Educational Division of Local Government in his region.
