Angela Zhu
Award Year: 2019

Angela graduated from University of South Florida in 2018, where she earned her bachelor’s degrees in biomedical sciences and music studies. She had the opportunity to work with and teach children who live in an orphanage in Ghana, where she learned that education is fundamental for a country’s future. Inspired by this and previous language tutoring experiences, she sought out to teach English. She realized that Indonesia presented her the opportunity to learn about healthcare systems and religions. Angela hopes to bring her love for sustainable gardening, cooking, and music to the school while learning about Indonesia’s own food and culture.

For her Fulbright ETA program, Angela will be placed in South Sulawesi where she will co-teach at SMAN 1 Tana Toraja.
