Kusumawati is originally from Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. She is currently teaching Bahasa Indonesia at University of Michigan. She loves teaching because has been inspired by her great teachers who had taught her about life and the importance of education, her mother and late father. She believes that every people have the right to get education, because a well-educated generation will be able to build a prosperous country.

She earned her master’s degree in English education from Palangkaraya University, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia in 2015. She was an English teacher at Golden Christian School in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. She hopes she can be a professional and inspirational teacher. After completing Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant program, she plans to teach at her old school, to share her experiences with her colleagues and students as well as teachers from other schools through discussions, seminars and workshops. Furthermore, she wants to implement all the great teaching and learning strategies and methods obtained. It will be useful for gaining the education equity in her country. In addition, she will also build English learning center for free for the students who do not have enough money to pay their school tuition. She believes that she could help build her country by inspiring and motivating the young generation and help them be well prepared.
