For her Fulbright Doctoral degree program in ecology and evolutionary biology, Arini is placed at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research focuses on wetland and bird conservation.
She is a teaching assistant and research scientist at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science at Mulawarman University, Samarinda where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology. She received her master’s degree from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.
Upon completion of the doctorate, she intends to return to teach at Mulawarman and to use her study to support the conservation efforts of several species, such as storm stork, lesser adjutant stork, and Irrawaddy dolphin in East Kalimantan especially since the situation of wetland reclamation there is quite severe.
