Astri Buana Putri Napitupulu is both a chemistry teacher and Vice-Principal in Academic Field of Yayasan Soposurung Balige in Balige, North Sumatra. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universitas Indonesia in 2007 and has been working at Yayasan Soposurung Balige since she graduated until today.
She participated in a teacher training program in Okayama, Japan and produced a report about comparison of education between Japan and Indonesia. Her main interest is in Teaching and Learning Program, in which she believes innovative classroom materials and creative classroom practices will help teachers to build students’ knowledge and confidence. She observed when she assisted an American teacher in a classroom activity, the students actively responded to him because he used creative materials and interesting teaching approach.
Upon completion of the master’s degree program in Teaching and Learning at Illinois State University, she intends to continue working in her current workplace and immediately share the knowledge to other teachers in schools in her hometown. Her long term goals is to become an influential educational researcher and trainer, as well as an inspirational and creative teacher.
